My Soho
By Tony Anstis

Q - You have often been seen in some of the many Soho bars and restaurants which ones stand out for you?

Always enjoy dinner at Signor Zilli on Dean Street. Occasionally pop into Soho House and various restaurants in China Town. Teatro on corner of Shaftesbury Avenue and Greek Street is firm favourite of mine. Great chilled out atmosphere in the members bar, really friendly service and a top food menu as well.

Q- What is your favourite Soho memory?

Meeting Kim Cattrall in Teatro and ended up having a glass of wine with her and her friends. Sadly, it stopped at the wine!

Q - What improvements would you like to see made to the Soho area?

I had a party at Teatro just before Christmas, and a few of my jungle buddies came along. "King" Matt and his gorgeous girlfriend Emma both rocked up. Lauren Booth, love her. Faith Brown, Scott Henshall... even Vanessa Feltz joined us for a few drinkies!

Q- In three words sum up Soho?

Exciting, edgy, and sexy

Just Organic
By Jrink

The concept based on the writings of Rudolph Steiner:

‘Life forces and circadian rhythms are the focus. The system is working on the premise that the phases of the moon and alignments of the planets affect the way that plants grow. It also incorporates a homeopathic and holistic approach to grape growing.’

You may join me in secretly denying that singing to plants in the middle of night while wearing a toga shouldn’t makes any difference to quality or taste. However, the roots of this ‘new trend’ do follow the existing awareness of eco-friendly brands in the marketplace. So as a business or individual what are the benefits of sourcing these ‘super-organic wines’?

The approach to production is clearly of benefit to community and environmental sustainability, on both smaller and larger scales. Small or family run business, with as much passion as knowledge, will benefit from the growth in sales. Also if major wineries of the world would then follow suit and provide the financial support to enlarge these operations and the general public awareness one would hope to see a marked improvement in water and soil conditions in these areas.

As a lone consumer or small bar we do not assume that we can affect change in these huge multi-national corporations but commitment to good practice, even whilst out drinking, on a small scale is where it all begins.
